Positions: Environmental Educators (Volunteer) / Event Managers (Paid) / Set Up & Strike Crew (Paid)
Reports to: Operations Manager
Location: Calgary, Alberta

What We Expect From You

Environmental Educators (Volunteer) – interact with the public during events and guide them toward proper waste stream disposal. People will typically throw waste into the wrong bins unless you are there to monitor. You need to be friendly. Remember, they will do it themselves if you encourage them. This job may require you to touch and sort waste and stand for long periods often outdoors.

Set up & Strike Crew members (Paid) – Set up and pack up equipment, ensure water, power and other equipment are in good working order, clean up site and ensure it is pristine, sort waste into correct waste streams, weigh and record waste for reporting purposes, and haul everything away to the correct locations for recycling, composting, storage, etc. This job may require heavy lifting, late nights and/or early mornings.

Event Managers (Paid) – are assigned specific events where they are the main coordinator for staff, equipment and operations. You will plan the event from start to finish using a critical path and ensure that communication is flowing effectively across the entire team and with the client. You will manage and train small and large teams to set up, tear down and run waste & recycling, water, power and audience engagement programs. This job will require you to travel to multiple locations in and around Calgary as well as be very professional, organized, and solutions oriented. Events, project management and general management experience is highly valued for this role.
